The Challenge
Leona Graham is a broadcaster, DJ, and voiceover artist with a career spanning
more than two decades. She hosts the
mid-morning show on Absolute Radio, followed by Absolute 80s and The Evening Show on Absolute
Classic Rock. Outside the
studio, she DJs at clubs, hosts corporate events, and records voiceovers for clients worldwide. She
was also the first
female breakfast show presenter in the UK — a genuine pioneer in British radio.
Her existing website no longer reflected the scale of her career or the energy of
her personality. For someone with her
profile, the digital presence needed to match the broadcast presence.
The brief was clear:
- Create a design with genuine rock'n'roll attitude — not a generic template
- Showcase multiple revenue streams: radio, voiceovers, DJ bookings, podcast, merchandise
- Integrate social media to keep the site dynamic between updates
- Preserve existing search engine rankings built over years
- Deliver fast performance on mobile — her audience listens on the move
Developing a Rock'n'Roll Design
We began by understanding what makes Leona's brand distinctive. Her personality is
bold, warm, and unmistakably
rock'n'roll. The website needed to reflect that without feeling gimmicky or dated.
The approved design direction featured:
- A dark theme with striking deep purple accents
- Classic guitar silhouettes as design elements — the Gibson Explorer and SG
- Animated soundwaves flowing through the site
- Subtle interactions: images tilt on hover, elements respond to scrolling
- Typography that feels confident without sacrificing readability

A Simple But Effective Structure
A portfolio website for a multi-disciplinary creative needs careful organisation. Visitors might arrive looking for voiceover samples, podcast episodes, radio schedules, or booking information. The structure had to serve all of them without confusion.
